INDUSTRY:

Although the economy still relies heavily on agriculture, St Lucia's economic base has broadened to include light industry producing plastic, textiles and industrial gases and assembling electronic components. The main agricultural crops include bananas, coconuts, cocoa, mango, breadfruit, yam and citrus fruits.

There is a significant construction industry and the Government is encouraging further diversification, principally in tourism and financial services.
