INDUSTRY:

Guadeloupe’s economy is dependant on a number of industries including agriculture, tourism, light industry and services.

Tourism is a key industry with an increasingly large number of cruise ships visiting the islands.

The agricultural industry is the most important industry. The banana crop accounts for approx. 50% of export earnings. Other crops include sugarcane, tropical fruits, vegetables, eggplants, and flowers. Livestock in also raised on the islands, particularly, cattle, pigs and goats.

There is some light industry mainly for sugar and rum production.
